Developing leaders for a changing world
We are proud to work with Babcock Rosyth as they expand their role as the UK’s leading naval support business to supplying engineering solutions within the offshore energy, civil nuclear and marine engineering support services.
Together with the in-house OD team we have designed and continue to deliver the Leadership Excellence Programme.

Aimed at middle managers, the programme challenges and supports participants to develop their skills and create the culture that will drive business success as it expands into the commercial environment and manages and delivers on projects involving some of the country’s most critical assets.

Running over 6 months, the programme consists of a series of learning forums constructed around Babcock’s competency framework of LEAD, DELIVER and GROW. The forums are a mix of input on leading edge thinking, group learning activities and sharing of best practice across the business. Individual change is also challenged and supported through one to one coaching.

One of our principle objectives is to ensure that the programme delivers measurable qualitative and quantitative positive improvement in individual behaviour and business results. We have succeeded in achieving this by guiding and supporting participants to undertake specific activities that involve them in benchmarking themselves against the organisation’s values and identifying actions to improve productivity and enhance their team climate and culture.

Each programme cohort is also charged with identifying more strategic business improvement opportunities and developing and presenting their business case for investment and change to Directors. A number of these proposals have been implemented, resulting in improved efficiency and significant cost savings.

Client quotes
‘Peoplematters have played an integral part in the design and delivery of Leadership Development programmes at Rosyth for the last 10 years. Since 2012 the focus has been on our Leadership Excellence programme for middle managers which, is endorsed by Edinburgh Napier University Business School and gives the ability to progress to post-graduate Certificate in Practice of Management.
Shona is the lead facilitator on this programme, coordinating independent facilitators and coaching support, providing value above and beyond the programme costs, and our delegates give excellent feedback on the content and delivery of the programme as well as the extremely high standard of coaching received. Most importantly, Peoplematters continually innovate to help us provide the bespoke requirement that we at Babcock believe is the key to excellence in leadership development for our business.’

‘The experience I gained and the opportunity offered to work with Peoplematters on the Leadership Programme was invaluable for the development of me and the team I work with. This can now be seen in how we operate more closely and better as a unit to the benefit of all. The course content also reflected directly the values of a leader and how these should be promoted strongly throughout my company. Many thanks go to Peoplematters for making this an enjoyable and worthwhile experience.’
