The First Scottish Coaching Carnival

What a great day I had at the First Scottish Coaching Carnival organised by the inimitable Peter Hill and his team at CFM Consulting, and hosted by BBC Scotland at their Pacific Quay complex in Glasgow on Thursday 18 June 2015.

In addition to meeting some ‘old’ friends and making a few new ones, I heard some great questions and ideas about coaching in a relaxed atmosphere, and enjoyed a great session on ‘Team Coaching’ from Shona, my colleague at Peoplematters, and on ‘Engendering Balance in Coaching’ from Mary Musselbrook and Sue Congram. We topped off the day with a very thought-provoking panel discussion on the future of coaching in Scotland and found general agreement that there is great potential for growth and enhanced professionalism in coaching practice in this part of the world.

I was encouraged to see active representation from the Association for Coaching, the European Mentoring and Coaching Council, the International Coaching Federation, the Scottish Mediation Network and Scottish Government among others – not least BBC Scotland for being such welcoming hosts.

Well done everyone, particularly Peter. I can’t wait for the next one!
